Lexus
Toyota’s luxury brand offers plenty of cars and SUVs alike. The brand’s most affordable option is the UX sub-compact SUV, which remains one of the only options on the market to offer a hybrid powertrain. In fact, almost every one of the brand’s current offerings include electrified options.
On the crossover side, buyers have the choice of the best-selling RX, or the compact NX, which saw a second-generation model launch for 2022. The NX now offers four powertrains, including a powerful turbocharged ICE and the brand’s first plug-in hybrid. Buyers looking for more traditional SUVs can get either the GX or larger LX, the latter of which also saw a new model debut for 2022. The LX now includes a high-end trim with reclining rear seats to take on the Land Rover Range Rover.
On the sedan side, Lexus offers the IS sport compact, ES mid-sizer, and full-size LS flagship sedan. The IS 500 debuted for 2022, bringing a V8 back to the smallest Lexus sedan. Of course, that V8 still resides under the hood of the beautiful LC coupe, which even offers a hybrid too.
Lexus was introduced in 1989 as a luxury brand targeted at Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Jaguar. Its first model, the LS400 won critical acclaim, and later expanded to include the Camry-based ES luxury sedan, the GS sports sedan in 1993, the LX luxury SUV (based on the Toyota Land Cruiser) in 1995 and the IS sports sedan in 1999.
2010-2023 Lexus GX – Review, Specs, Pricing, Features, Videos and More
The Lexus GX is a bit of an anomaly in the luxury SUV world. It’s one of the few body-on-frame hold-outs, but is not a full-size offering like the Cadillac Escalade, Infiniti QX80, or even Lexus’ own LX. Based on a platform shared by the Toyota 4Runner, the GX continues to use the older 4.6-liter V8. It may make less power than many modern V6 engines, but it does feature an abundance of low-end torque.

The Lexus GX is a bit of an anomaly in the luxury SUV world. It’s one of the few body-on-frame hold-outs, but is not a full-size offering like the Cadillac Escalade, Infiniti QX80, or even Lexus’ own LX. Based on a platform shared by the LX and Tundra, the GX now uses a 3.4-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine.
Lexus NX – Review, Specs, Pricing, Features, Videos and More
Choice is the name of the game as there’s a Lexus NX for nearly everyone. Folks looking for a gasoline propelled unit have their choice between naturally aspirated and turbocharged four-cylinders. If a hybrid is required, there are two of those as well. One a traditional hybrid and the other of the plug-in variety.
Lexus RC – Review, Specs, Pricing, Features, Videos and More
The mid-size Lexus RC Coupe is one of the few survivors in a dying segment. Luxury coupes used to be a prominent fixture on our roads, but not so much anymore. Three versions of the regular RC are available, one using a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and two with naturally aspirated V6s.
Lexus RC F – Review, Specs, Pricing, Features, Videos and More
Lexus’ performance halo sports coupe is the RC F. It bucks the turbocharged trend dominating the marketplace these days and sticks to a sweet sounding naturally aspirated V8 engine. Although it may give up a bit of power to its rivals, few match the visceral thrill of running the 5.0-liter unit to red line.
Lexus UX – Review, Specs, Pricing, Features, Videos and More
The Lexus UX is a subcompact SUV. As the entry point into the luxury brand, Lexus keeps things simple. The UX only comes with a single drivetrain, a four-cylinder hybrid that makes 181 hp. It can can be paired with either front- or all-wheel drive.
2025 Lexus UX 300h Brings More Power
For 2025, Lexus’ smallest hybrid SUV gets an all-new powertrain. While the UX doesn’t appear to be boasting any aesthetic updates, Lexus also says the lineup now includes a new Copper Crest color, available on all models, and a handful of changes to the car’s safety systems.
