The Lexus RZ 450e finally has a price.

No press release has been included, but Lexus quietly added pricing to its website for the RZ 450e EV crossover. There are only two trims; Premium, and Luxury, with the base premium trim starting at $59,650, including the $1,100 destination fee. That is a substantial jump over the roughly $42,000 base price from its platform mate, the Toyota BZ4x. However, the BZ4x in base trim is front-wheel-drive. All RZ 450e models are dual-motor, AWD, all producing 308 horsepower.

The Premium trim comes with niceties like a panoramic roof, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 14-inch infotainment screen, a heated steering wheel, and a 10-speaker Lexus-branded sound system. For $65,150, the Luxury trim adds a head-up display, 20-inch wheels, a 13-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, and heated rear seats among other things.

However, the range is a maximum of 225 miles on Lexus RZ 450e equipped with 18-inch wheels. Opting for the premium trim with 20-inch wheels drops that range to 196 miles.

These numbers aren’t great. The Lexus RZ 450e’s price seems right, but its lack of range and power compared to the competition makes the EV crossover look very uncompetitive on paper. The Genesis GV60, Tesla Model Y, and even the Ford Mustang Mach-E will be able to out accelerate and go further on a single charge than the Lexus.

The Lexus RZ 450e should be on sale very soon.
