Acura
The luxury division of Honda Motor Company, Acura’s most popular models include the MDX and RDX crossovers. The company hasn’t abandoned the car side of the business, either. It recently used its larger TLX sedan to relaunch the vaunted Type S badge, which comes with a brand-exclusive 3.0-liter turbocharged V6. For 2022, the Type S badge will also find its way onto the back of the MDX, as well as the final production run of the hybrid NSX supercar. The Integra also returns this year, as a five-door hatchback complete with available manual transmission.
Launched in 1986, Acura at first had just two models, the Legend sedan and the Integra. Then in 1991 came the NSX, delivering incredible performance, and marking the introduction of Honda’s VTEC variable valve timing technology. In 2000 Honda introduced its popular TL model with a smaller TSX, based on the Euro-market Accord, arriving in 2004. During this period Acura also began its push into the popular SUV segment, introducing the successful MDX in 2000 and RDX in 2006.
