Acura MDX? No, this is the Acura Precision EV concept.

Officially unveiled today, the Acura Precision EV is an MDX-esque crossover fully electric SUV that Acura says will be the future of its electrified transportation. So far, the Precision EV concept is just a “design study,” but many elements of this concept will likely be seen on a future Acura EV slated to be released in 2024.

Acura claims to be inspired by “the elegance, artistry and harmony of form and function unique to luxury Italian power boats,” which the brand says lends itself to a focus on performance, leading to a “wide, athletic stance, expressive silhouette and sharp character lines.” The concept is finished in Acura’s characteristic Apex Blue paint. The front grille insert is covered in diamond shapes that light up, dubbed “Particle Glitch” by Acura. Big, 23-inch wheels fill out the stance of the concept.

Inside, a sufficiently conceptual interior matches the exterior. Acura claims the Precision EV’s interior was inspired by Formula 1, with its low-slung driving position, and two-spoke, yoke-style steering wheel. As per any concept these days, the Precision EV would have autonomous driving features. The Spiritual Lounge driving mode would let the driver “relax and recharge” while the car carts them off to the destination.

Acura didn’t release any theoretical specs for power, performance, or range for the Precision EV concept. But, Acura did say that a full EV will be coming from the brand in 2024. The Precision EV was unveiled and is on display at this year’s Monterey Car Week.
