“Mary, strong as an army, give victory to our troops. We are so weak and our enemy waxes furious with such arrogance. But with your standard, we feel sure of overcoming him; he knows the strength of your foot, he fears the majesty of your glance.
Save us, O Mary, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in battle array.” Pope Pius XII December 8, 1953, proclaiming the solemn opening of the Marian Year.
Why does Mary have to ask for this title and its proclamation as the Fifth Marian Dogma? She Keeps Visiting Earth and Asking for the Involvement of Her Children in God’s plans … Why?
Dr. Mark Miravale, Associate Professor of Theology and Mariology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, who authored a book entitled ‘Mary: Coredemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate’ explains it well:
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked his disciples, “Who do people say I am?” They replied: “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” But what about you?: Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered: “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied: “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood but My Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Peter, the first Pope, revealed to the world the first Dogma. He was inspired by God to speak it. We can see from this that God desires the involvement of man in His plans for humanity. What an awesome God. This is the way of heaven in dealing with ‘earthlings’
Mary, who is “full of grace”, and, who can have all the grace she wants, is held back from flooding the world with graces by the free will of man.
If the Peter of today were to declare and affirm that Mary is the Co-Redemptrix, and, Mary Mediatrix … she would be able to rain magnificent graces of all beauty and color which we can picture as radiant floods of light pouring on the darkness. She is held back by the will of mankind … we can see from the story of St. Peter that God wants mankind to be involved in salvation … specifically He wants His Vicar on earth to speak for us.
We already know that Mary is “full of grace” She was “nature’s solitary boast” (Shakespeare) and she always will be … as eternity is forever. She will always be full of grace therefore. Paraphrasing from the video of Dr. Miravale
And she wants to rain it upon her children. Of course we have some grace now. But the torrents that would flow down were the proclamation … which heaven wants … was proclaimed by the office of Peter …. are unimaginable! The world, spinning into darkness begs … ‘light on darkness pour’
Our Lady of All Nations … one of so many visits of Mary to earth wherein she asked for the title of Mary Mediatrix. Approved by the Church.
