My awesome, wonderfully talented choir, thought I was rigid in distancing myself from this revolutionary music. Now I’m thoroughly depressed about the fact that I stayed for ten years as organist for the Novus Ordo Church.
Sing a New Church (sung to “Nettleton,” the melody for “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”)
~Delores Dufner, OSB
Summoned by the God who made us
rich in our diversity
Gathered in the name of Jesus,
richer still in unity.
Refrain: Let us bring the gifts that differ
and, in splendid, varied ways,
sing a new Church into being,
one in faith and love and praise.

robed in holiness and light,
male and female in God’s image,
male and female, God’s delight.
Trust the goodness of creation;
trust the Spirit strong within.

Weave a song of peace and justice;
let it sound through time and space.
Draw together at one table,

I hope that dreadful song is sarcastic! You poor thing Mary. You need to stay in the choir as resistance. Because it’s not about us;we have to help our brethren know the Truth! Who will minister to them if all of us suddenly abandon the N.O completely? Don’t worry though- the time will come when we have to. Jesus said that we would know that time in our hearts – after they change the words of the consecration when we must turn our back and walk away.
No, it’s a real ‘hymn’ It’s disgusting isn’t it? I’m sorry for what you are going through in your country! Horrific!
A real hymn???! Oh my gosh??! Well they can have their “table” while we acknowledge the altar of God.
