Letter to Wormwood From Uncle Screwtape

images 16   We must get them to worship “Forces” while denying the existence of “spirits” …..

My Dear Wormwood,

We are really faced with a cruel dilemma.  When the humans disbelieve in our existence we lose all the pleasing results of direct terrorism and we make no magicians.

On the other hand, when they believe in us, we cannot make them materialists and skeptics.

At least, not yet.

I have great hopes that we shall learn in due time how to emotionalize and mythologize their science to such an extent that what is, in effect a belief in us, (although not under that name) will creep in while the human mind remains closed to belief in the Enemy.

The “Life Force,” the worship of sex, and some aspects of Psychoanalysis, may here prove useful.  If once we can produce our perfect work – the Materialist Magician, the man, not using, but veritably worshipping what he vaguely calls “Forces” while denying the existence of “spirits” – then the end of of the war will be in sight….

Once you have made the world an end, and faith a means, you have almost won your man, and it makes very little difference what kind of worldly end he is pursuing.

Provided that meetings, pamphlets, policies, movements, causes and crusades,  matter more to him than prayers,  sacraments and charity, he is ours.

I could show you a pretty cageful down here,

Your affectionate uncle,                                                                                                                         Screwtape

Death: The Definitive Painkiller by Judie Brown on Pending Texas Bill SB2089

“Palliative care given in very high doses represents a quicker way to end a life deemed without quality or purpose…”   By Judie Brown May 7, 2019  https://www.all.org/2019/05

Palliative care was originally understood to be the practice of offering relief and comfort to a suffering or dying patient. Today “one is well-advised to be skeptical of a referral to palliative care”  http://www.lifeissues.net/writers/whi/whi_03palliativecarepatients.html  Lone Whitlock

Why?  Because in essence, it has become just another weapon in the toolbox of those whose goal it is to excuse the very ill from life.

Current examples help us see the many twists and turns that have taken place over the years when it comes to treating the chronically ill and the dying.

Just recently it was reported that Doctors are performing a procedure called “death by donation,” which means that organs are harvested from a living patient, thus rendering him dead.

Doctors are Increasingly Euthanizing Patients to Harvest Their Organs

https://wwwusatoday.com/story/opinion/voices/2019/05/02/organ-donation-physician-assisted-suicide-death-disability-column/3628448002/

When a doctor removes a vital organ … the patient dies.  This is one way to eliminate the pain he is experiencing.  Killing is the definitive pain killer.

And here is where we,  perhaps the future sick patient,  and/or the future anxious worrying family come in:

Texas has a bill up for consideration which we, by informing our Senators of its’ existence, can draw their attention to it.  Would you like to see this bill introduced in your own state?  I would.

In the state of Texas, pro-life Senate Bill 2089  SB2089 is up for consideration right now.  This proposal would undo the negative effects of  the Texas Advance Directive Act.  https://kassiblog.blogspot.com/2019/  TADA violates the personal liberties of conscience among those who do not ascribe to euthanasia practices.  How?  In this way:

The 10 Day Law in Texas states that a patient and his or her legal surrogate have a mere 10 days to arrange an emergency transfer to another facility that would be willing to continue treatment if they wish.   Such a transfer is often extraordinarily complicated in such cases, and there are no practical means under the 10-Day-Law for a typical patient to stop the ticking on his or her own.

In 2014 a statement by the Belgian Society of Intensive Care Medicine asserts that ‘shortening the dying process’ should be permissible with the use of medication even in the absence of discomfort.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24210357/end-of-life-decisions

When discussing these facts, two prominent physicians, one from the Netherlands and another from Harvard, told me that where they come from, “they call that murder.”

We hope and pray that SB2089 becomes law so that the vulnerable can once again be protected in the Lone Star State instead of ushered out of life if the 10 days expire.

Too many within the healthcare community embrace philosophies and practices that threaten those patients who truly need relief from suffering so that they can live the balance of their lives in comfort rather than literally being put down like dogs by any means possible.

We must be clear:  Ventilators and feeding tubes keep patients comfortable.  They are not extreme.

But perhaps the unspoken idea here is that palliative medication, when given in very high doses, represents a better use of resources and a quicker way to end a life deemed without quality or purpose.

Now we see that the new trend in end-of-life care appears to be the use of artificial intelligence for those facing their final weeks, months, or more.  One report tells us that chatbots may become the wave of the future if it can be determined that “patients might be more inclined to share their symptoms or ask questions when no other human is present.”   https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/13/an-artificial-intelligence-created-for-the-end-of-life-is-already-here.html.

In addition, we see another type in an algorithm that can identify candidates for palliative care by predicting when they will die.

Charbots, algorighms, pain medications, and on it goes.

It seems that no matter what method is employed to treat the suffering and the dying, medicine is not what it used to be.  Death is the goal and it is painfully clear that death is the definitive painkiller.

UPDATE:  The usual suspects double down in opposition to this pro life bill:

De Mattei: “The Most Terrible Schism The World Has Ever Seen”

The Papal document ‘On Human Fraternity,’ recently put forth by Pope Francis, actually professes that each is free to profess the religion he likes and even not to profess any at all.”

“On February 4, 2019, at Abu Dhabi, Pope Francis and the Grand Iman of Al Azhar, Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, signed the document on ‘Humanity Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together.’

The declaration opens in the name of a God, who, if he has to be a God common to all, cannot be anything other than the Allah of Muslims.

The God of Christians, in fact, is one in nature, but Triune in persons, equal and distinct, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Since the time of Arius and thereafter, the Church has been battling the anti-Trinitarians and the Deists who deny, or set aside, this mystery, which is Christianity’s greatest.

Islam, on the contrary, rejects it in horror, as the Sura”of authentic worship” proclaims: “He, God, is one God, the Eternal One! He will not generate, nor was He generated…

Actually, in the Abu Dhabi declaration, worship is not given either to the God of Christians or to the God of Islam, but to a secular divinity,  “human fraternity, which embraces all men, unites them and renders them equal.”

We are not dealing here with the ‘spirit of Assisi – which in its syncretism recognizes, nonetheless, the primacy of the religious dimension over that of the seculist – but with an affirmation of indifference.

In no point, in fact, is a fundamental metaphysic of the values of peace and fraternity mentioned, but these are continually referred to.

The document, when it affirms that:  “pluralism and the diversity of religions, color, sex, race and language are willed by God in His wisdom, through which He created human beings,”  does not profess the ecumenism condemned by Pius XI in ‘Moratalium Animos, (1928), but the religions indifferentism,   condemned by Leo XIII in the encyclical Libertas (June 20, 1928),   which he defines “as a doctrinal system teaching each is free to profess the religion he likes and even not to profess any at all.”

Can the Chaste Homosexual Priest Be an Asset to the Church? Attla Sinke Guimaraes

“What kind of man will follow an effeminate commander conducting a campaign?”

“After completion of the book ‘Vatican II: Homosexuality and Pedophelia’ I thought it convenient to expound and refute some of the most common sophisms that surround the two-fold crisis of homosexuality and pedophilia that scourges the Catholic Church”

Sophism 7  (Sophism: argument used deliberately to deceive)

The homosexual priest who is chaste is not a problem and can even be a great assistance to the Church

Answer

The priesthood is a calling for men who aspire to a higher degree of perfection and bind themselves to practice the three evangelical counsels:  perpetual chastity, voluntary poverty, and, perfect obedience.  They dedicate themselves to the service of the Church.  The vow of chastity consists of abstaining from marriage and maintaining sexual continence.  Since the homosexual does not have attraction to women, the vow to abstain from marriage is of small import to him and does not constitute a sacrifice.  For him to be chaste- to not sin with another man – is not a prerogative that comes from a counsel of perfection, but an imperative of nature. No one ever has the right to practice homosexuality. So, for a homosexual the vow of chastity and celibacy have an entirely different meaning than the one always understood by the priesthood.

Further, the homosexual priest has an androgynous tonus that alienates normal people and does not inspire trust.  For the great battles of the Catholic Faith and Morals, the faithful seek manly leaders who are experienced fighters.  Proponents of homosexual priests claim they can be models of kindness and compassion, but such homosexual priests lack the steel temper needed to conduct those battles.

Priests are the future Bishops who should command the fights against the enemies of the Church.  What kind of man will follow an effeminate commander conducting a campaign?  The homosexual cannot earn the trust and maintain the morale needed to govern and defend the Church.

Therefore, priests cannot be homosexuals.
