Volkswagen To Show Off New EV At CES 2023
The next fully electrified Volkswagen will debut at next week’s Consumer Electronics Show. (CES)
Volkswagen hasn’t been shy about its push for full electrification but in the United States, VW’s fully electric lineup has been pretty slim, with the compact EV crossover ID.4 being its sole entry. Europe has the ID.3 hatchback and ID.5 crossover coupe, and China has a plethora of hatchbacks and 6 or 7-seat EV crossovers, but not much for the United States. That’s about to change, though – Volkswagen says it is debuting a new EV a few days before this year’s CES.
On January 3, the brand will take the wraps off its mystery EV, sort of. The vehicle will be camouflaged, but the brand will confirm the name of the vehicle. We aren’t sure exactly what vehicle VW is showing, it has not given any hint. It could be a production version of the ID. Aero EV sedan concept or it could be an all-new EV SUV, something either bigger or smaller than the ID.4.
We do know that whatever VW shows will be based on the MEB platform, just like the ID.4 and the forthcoming North American version of the ID. Buzz EV van. If it happens to be the production version of the ID. Aero concept, VW could be a new competitor in a segment currently really only occupied by the Tesla Model 3; not many automakers are itching to build a fully electric sedan-shaped car.
The latest production Volkswagen EV will debut on January 3.

We now know it's the ID.7, based on the ID.Aero concept car. It's supposed to debut in the second quarter of 2023, which means April-June. Even with the camouflage paint job, it looks pretty good. Can't wait to see what it looks like without the camo!
