Top 5 Best Most Goodest-est Greatest-of-All Concept Cars From the 2018 Geneva Motor Show

We say this every year, but gosh almighty if it isn’t true. Geneva is the auto show for exotics, but if you squint hard enough, you might spot a concept or two sprinkled amongst all the fancy, like saffron atop your seafood paella.

Of all the design studies revealed at this year’s show, we’ve narrowed ‘em all down. From BMW to Lamborghini, Porsche to Volkswagen, here are the Top 5 Best Most Goodest-est Greatest-of-All Concept Cars from the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

The pod cars are coming, the pod cars are coming! But don’t worry, Volkswagen is showing us they don’t necessarily have to be emotionless boxes. The brand’s I.D. Vizzion concept could actually be described as pretty, and I’m especially in love with its wide-swinging suicide doors, which reveal an airy cabin. The all-electric drivetrain features a 111 kWh lithium-ion battery that should deliver a 413-mile range.

Next up, the Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo. Essentially, the German automaker has turned its standard Mission E sports car into a crossover… because apparently that’s the only thing anyone wants these days. Anyway, this four-seat utility features two electric motors that grace it with all-wheel-drive grip and help it reach 62 miles an hour in as little as 3.5 seconds. Of course, a stable of 600 horses plays an important role in that performance as well.

Certainly, one of the prettiest vehicles revealed in Geneva this year is the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe. With broad shoulders, long character lines and a suspicious lack of visual bullshit, this thing looks like it’s ready for production. And actually, it kind of is since it previews the Bavarian automaker’s next-generation flagship cars. The 8 Series Gran Coupe and M8 Gran Coupe are scheduled to launch in 2019, though this concept’s shimmering green paint and gold accents might not make it to showrooms.

But what is the most exciting design study unwrapped at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show? Well, how ‘bout the Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept? Enthusiasts have been frothing at the maw for this nameplate to be resurrected, though it is taking FOREVER. Obviously intended for track use, this vehicle nonetheless gives us a glimpse at what the production model will look like. On the technical side, we have it from the chief engineer himself that it will feature a turbocharged straight-six, rear-wheel-drive and possibly even offer a manual transmission. This powertrain combo should make even the Supra’s most ardent fans cackle with glee.
