Not surprisingly, luxury cars aren’t very cheap to insure.
By comparing car insurance rates in every single state for over 2,800 different vehicle models, Insure.com has determined the most expensive cars to insure for 2017.

The company pulled quotes from six different insurance companies to determine an annual average insurance rate and the insurance costs on some of these vehicles might surprise you. Here are the top 10 most expensive cars to insure.
10. Audi R8 V10
It’s not surprising to see a supercar like the Audi R8 V10 on the list. It lands in 10th place with an average annual premium of $3,267.
9. Nissan GT-R NISMO
Like the Audi R8 V10, the Nissan GT-R NISMO and its potent powerplant play a part in high insurance costs. Owners pay an average of $3,313 per year to insure the Nissan GT-R NISMO.
8. Mercedes-AMG SL65
The luxury sports convertible from Mercedes-AMG is one of numerous cars on the list from the German automaker. The Mercedes-AMG SL65 has an average annual premium of $3,322.
7. Mercedes-Maybach S600
It’s little surprise to see the uber-luxurious Mercedes-Maybach S600 on the list. The sedan costs an average of $3,355 per year to insure, but we have a feeling its owners aren’t even aware.

6. Mercedes-AMG C43 Convertible
The only car on the list that doesn’t have a six-digit price tag, it’s a surprise to see the Mercedes-AMG C43 Convertible sitting at sixth place with an average annual insurance premium of $3,418.

5. Mercedes S550 Convertible
If you’re in the market for an S-Class Convertible, you may want to take into account how much they are to insure. In fact, you’ll see other variants further down the list that cost even more than the S550 Convertible, which has an average annual premium of $3,502.

4. Maserati Quattroporte GTS
According to Insure.com, this is the first time Maserati has made it onto the list with the Quattroporte GTS sliding into the fourth spot with an average annual rate of $3,547.

Another S-Class Convertible variant on the list, this is the Mercedes-AMG S63 Convertible with an average annual premium of $3,624.

2. Dodge Viper GTS
The Dodge Viper GTS isn’t long for this world and it just may soon become a collectible. Owners will have to fork over an average of $3,779 per year to keep it insured.
1. Mercedes-AMG S65 Convertible
Topping the list is also the most expensive car on the list, the Mercedes-AMG S65 Convertible. According to Insure.com, it costs an average of $3,835 to insure a year.
