Subaru To Unveil A Vehicle Of Some Sort At The LA Auto Show
They didn’t tell us very much.
Subaru announced its intent to unveil an all-new car at this year’s LA Auto Show but didn’t give us very much aside from a teaser image. The teaser image shows a dark-colored wheel, against a dark-colored body. Subaru only said that “an all-new fully redesigned vehicle will make its global debut at 9:40 a.m. PT (12:40 p.m. ET) on November 16 at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show.” That’s it. Nothing else.
Of course, that’s not the end of the post here – there’s a lot of speculation of what Subaru is launching here. We here at Autoguide think it could be a new Ascent. Although the Ascent was recently facelifted, the underlying car is one of Subaru’s oldest models, it was introduced in 2018, meaning it’s about time for a new model. The current Ascent is spacious, but the turbocharged engine and CVT transmission are leisurely, taking the edge off what is mostly an agreeable (if not forgettable) midsized crossover.
Or, it could be something electric. Like most other companies, Subaru also vows to seriously electrify its fleet in the near future, and currently, it only has the not-so-great Subaru Solterra in its lineup. If it truly wants to make a dent in the growing EV market, it needs more cars, and ASAP.
Of course, all of this is just speculation based on a very small teaser. We won’t know for sure until Subaru unveils the vehicle at the LA show in about two weeks.
