Rivian's Production Numbers Ramp Up: More Than 7,000 EVs Made In Q3
Rivian’s production numbers continue to steadily rise.
The Rivian R1T and R1S may be critical darlings in the EV SUV and truck space, but the brand has openly struggled with production since its inception. But, it seems like better things are on the horizon; Rivian reported 7,363 vehicles were produced for Q3 at its Normal, IL plant. Also, the brand delivered 6,584 vehicles during Q3.
Although it may not sound all that impressive, this is a 67% jump in production from Q2. Rivian says that it should be on track to hit its 25,000 production goal. Year to date, Rivian has produced a little over 14,000 vehicles, meaning it needs to make around 9,000 in Q4 to meet its goal. Judging from the increase in numbers, it just may do it. Rivian’s Q3 production and delivery results are the best it’s ever had, to date.
Remember, this 25,000 production goal is halved from the initial 50,000 claims from the brand earlier this year. Production woes, layoffs, and supply-chain issues caused the brand to slow down and re-evaluate its ability to deliver on its initial goals. There are still profitability questions lingering, too, as the brand still reaches for capital, but it hasn’t come out and stated its financials for Q3 yet.
Still, the brand has more than 100,000 orders for its vehicles, and demand continues to grow. Hopefully, no more hiccups in Rivian’s operations, meaning reservation holders will get their EV trucks in a timely fashion.
