With the vehicle now requiring a backup camera, we weren’t sure if the Alfa Romeo 4C was going to live on past the 2018 model year.

We’re happy to report that the beloved Italian sports car will indeed be sold as a 2019 model year vehicle – albeit in soft-top Spider form only. That’s right, the Alfa Romeo 4C Coupe is gone forever.

According to Motor Authority, the 4C Spider will get a number of small changes for 2019. Among the updates is a standard backup camera, which is housed within the rearview mirror.

The Track Package will also no longer be available, but its contents will be offered to customers individually. The Track Package included staggered 19-inch rear wheels and 18-inch front wheels, performance shock absorbers, stiffer anti-roll bars, Pirelli P-Zero tires, carbon fiber mirror caps and a carbon fiber gauge cluster housing.

Finally, the base price of the 4C Spider will rise from $65,900 to $66,900. And you thought that backup camera would come free of charge!

The 4C Spider will likely remain in production until Alfa Romeo is closer to bringing its new 8C to market. Not much is known about the 8C, but Fiat Chrysler says it will be a hybrid mid-engine vehicle with a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis and over 700 hp. It’s expected to arrive in 2022.
