Production 2019 Lincoln Aviator Stays True to the Concept
The 2019 Lincoln Aviator has been spied testing in Michigan.
The upcoming SUV stays true to the concept that was shown at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in January. Based on the prototype pictured here, it seems the exterior of the vehicle will look nearly identical to the concept, while the interior will also be very similar to that of the design study.
Lincoln says the Aviator will ride on its new D6 platform, which will underpin a variety of future Ford and Lincoln products. The architecture is flexible enough to accommodate a front-, rear- or all-wheel drive layout, with the Aviator set to be offered in both rear- and all-wheel-drive variants.

Powering the Aviator Concept was one of Ford’s twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engines, which was paired with a plug-in hybrid setup. Ford didn’t provide many details on the powertrain, but the most likely candidate for the production model is the Lincoln-exclusive 3.0-liter. We wouldn’t be shocked if a four-cylinder hybrid model is also offered.
Like so many other new cars, the Aviator will almost certainly be offered with a large variety of active safety technology including lane keep assist and automatic emergency braking, among more.
The production Aviator is set to go on sale in 2019 as a 2020 model year vehicle.
