Nissan Frontier Gains Retro Style With Hardbody Edition
Nissan’s Project Hardbody comes to production.
Last week, we broke news of Nissan’s intention to resurrect the Hardbody nameplate for a new truck – and it’s finally here. The limited edition new Nissan Hardbody package adds retro style to the midsize pickup. Alongside this new package, Nissan has added a few things to the Frontier for 2024.
The Hardbody Edition is an appearance package available on the SV 4x4 Crew Cab trim. For an extra $3,890, Nissan will add retro-styled graphics on the doors and tailgate inspired of the old Hardbody pickup. The door handles and lower portion of the front bumper are black, and the Frontier gains a sporty (and retro) sport bar in the bed as if it drove straight out of 1985. Completing the look are 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires that look very similar to the iconic split three-spoke wheels found on early Hardbody and Pathfinders of the 1980s.
Also for 2024, Nissan has added a top-of-the-line SL trim to the Crew Cab models. Starting at $42,640, this swanky truck gains niceties like LED lighting, leather seats, and a 10-speaker Fender stereo system.
We think the Nissan Frontier Hardbody Edition is a swanky-looking truck. It’s got just the right amount of retro style, that pays homage to the past without going overboard. It’s akin to the Heritage Edition of the Ford Bronco Sport, but applied to a pickup truck, instead of a crossover. Is it worth an extra $3,890? Well, we aren’t sure, but it does look cool.
