Volvo’s large V90 wagon is no more, but the slightly higher sitting, crossover V90 Cross Country lives on. To us, this still resembles a wagon more than a crossover, and it might be the best looking long roof on the market. 

Volvo’s large sedan is different than many offerings from Germany, Japan, and America. For starters, it only comes with a choice of 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines. But don’t be fooled by the small displacement. The units are turbocharged and supercharged, and one is paired to a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that makes a total of 455 hp and 523 lb-ft. of torque. 

Volvo’s compact sedan is one of the brand’s longest running nameplates. Two versions of the car are available that go from mild to wild. The entry level model matches the field of compact luxury cars head-on like the BMW 330i, Audi A4, Lexus IS 300, and Cadillac CT4. 

Volvo is one of the few manufacturers that still offers a compact luxury wagon. In fact, the brand is one of the few left to offer a wagon of any kind. The V60 only comes in one trim now, the top of the line Recharge with a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged 4-cylinder mated to a plug-in hybrid.

The V60 Cross Country follows the a trend amongst luxury manufacturers of lifting up the brand’s wagons in an attempt to bolster sales. The true definition of a crossover, the V60 Cross Country is only available in a single trim. Unlike the potent and expensive V60, the Cross Country uses a more modest powertrain that’s matched by a much more accessible price point. 

The Volvo C40 Recharge is one of the more unique vehicles on the market. Not only is it one of the few all-electric small luxury SUVs on sale, but it comes in a swoopy coupe-like body style. A near mechanical twin to the more conventional XC40 Recharge, the C40 is one of the most outlandishly styled vehicles in Volvo’s lineup. 

The compact luxury EV SUV market is a fast growing segment. To gain a foothold in it, the Recharge is the all-electric version of Volvo’s compact XC40 SUV. It utilizes a dual motor set-up that powers all four wheels with a combined 402 hp.

The XC40 is a subcompact SUV that slots below the XC60 in Volvo’s lineup. Two versions of XC40 are available; a 194 hp front-wheel drive model as well as one with 247 hp and all-wheel drive. For those wanting more power and/or fully electric power, there is also the XC40 Recharge

The XC60 is one of Volvo’s most important models. The compact SUV accounts for a lot of the brand’s sales and is offered in three trim levels: the B5, B6, and Recharge. All three models use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with various levels of turbocharging, supercharging, and hybrid boost. 

Volvo’s largest SUV is the three-row XC90. Like most of the Swedish manufacturer’s vehicles, the XC90 is offered with a choice of 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines. The entry level makes an adequate 247 hp while the top-of-line Recharge features 455 hp from a plug-in hybrid set-up. 

The Tiguan is Volkswagen’s entry in the highly competitive compact SUV segment. Previously one of the smaller entries on the market, the second generation Tiguan grew substantially and is one of the only compact SUVs to offer three-rows of seating. 

With the Tiguan growing in size, the Volkswagen Taos fills the void left behind. Playing in the grey area between subcompact and compact SUVs, the Taos offers decent passenger room in a small package. 

The Acura ZDX and ZDX Type S are well within the heat of manufacturer testing.

With the Passat being discontinued, the Arteon is now Volkswagen’s only mid-size sedan. With a rakish coupe-like profile, the Arteon is a more premium offering amongst family sedans. It battles in a rare segment with the likes of the Nissan Altima and Kia Stinger. 

One of the original hot hatches, the Volkswagen GTI continues to be a great performance value. The front-wheel drive five-door is available with a manual or dual-clutch automatic transmission and a 241 hp engine.

The Volkswagen Mircobus is back! Reborn as an all-electric multi-passenger vehicle, the new ID. Buzz cashes in on nostalgic styling while using state of the art technology. Powering the rear-wheels is a single motor making 201 hp.

Toyota’s body-on-frame full-size SUV was recently overhauled and includes plenty of new technology. Chief among them is a new 3.4-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine paired to a hybrid drive system. It allows the big SUV to unleash an impressive 538 lb-ft. of torque. 

The Toyota 4Runner is a survivor. While most mid-size body-on-frame SUVs have been put to pasture, the 4Runner soldiers on. Available with two or three row seating, this vehicle can travel places most SUVs cannot. It has real off-road capabilities and credentials, especially in TRD form. 

The Toyota Mirai is one of the most unique vehicles on sale today, as it uses a hydrogen fuel cell to power an electric motor. The big rear-wheel drive sedan offers plenty of passenger space and torque. 

Fans of reliable five-door compact cars will want to check out the Toyota Corolla Hatchback. It features the same mechanics as the popular Corolla Sedan. But the more practical hatchback has better styling in our eyes. 

The Toyota RAV4 Prime is the plug-in hybrid version of the this popular compact SUV. Unlike most hybrids, the Prime focuses on performance as much as it does fuel savings. With a total of 302 hp on tap, the RAV4 Prime is one of the most powerful mainstream compact SUVs available today regardless of powertrain. 

The Aston Martin Vantage is a high-end super sports car that can be had with a V8 or V12 engine, both turbocharged. But the choices don’t stop there. It can also be had as either a coupe or a convertible. Which version is the better looking option is a tough call. 

No luxury automobile manufacturer can resist the allure and potential profits of offering a SUV. Aston Martin is no different. The DBX is a mid-size utility vehicle that focuses on performance as any good vehicle from the British manufacturer should. 

The Aston Martin DB11 is a super grand touring car. Available as a coupe or convertible, there isn’t much on the market today that looks as good as the DB11. Power comes from a choice of turbocharged engines, a 4.0-liter V8, or a 5.2-liter V12. 

The MINI Cooper Clubman is a unique vehicle from a unique manufacturer. It is a small wagon-like vehicle with twin-swing doors at the rear in place of a traditional lift gate. Available with all-wheel drive, the Clubman is a great alternative to small crossovers. Especially if driving enjoyment is high on a customer’s priorities list.

Mercedes-Benz’ flagship sedan is one of the most luxurious four-doors out there. Dripping with elegance, the S-Class continues to be a standard in the segment. Recently, a plug-in hybrid version joined the lineup, utilizing a turbocharged six-cylinder engine and electric motors. 

Maybach used to be a Mercedes-Benz stand alone super luxury brand. But recently, the manufacturer has transformed into a special trim level on some of Mercedes’ most prestigious vehicles. One of those models is the Maybach GLS. Starting at a price well over $150,000, the exclusive SUV comes with a 550 hp turbocharged V8 mated to a hybrid drivetrain. 

The GLE Coupe is Mercedes-Benz swoopy-styled version of the GLE SUV. With a raked rear roofline, the GLE Coupe is designed to have a more striking, sportier look. It lacks cargo capacity compared to its GLE sibling and cannot be had with a third row of seats.

The GLE is Mercedes-Benz’ mid-size SUV, formerly known as the ML Class in a previous life. A variety of engines are available starting with a 255 hp turbocharged 4-cylinder, crescendoing with a fire-breathing 603 hp turbo V8. The SUV can be had with two or three row seating configurations. 

The compact Mercedes-Benz GLB offers something most of its competitors do not – a third row of seats. Obviously, the back most row is the domain of small children, but having that option is a big plus for many. Two basic versions of the GLB are available, a regular model and an AMG. 

The Maserati Quattroporte is a sporty luxury mid-size car from the famed Italian manufacturer. Powered by a choice of engines, the larger Ferrari-sourced 3.8-liter turbocharged V8 sounds like nothing else on the road today.

The MC20 is Maserati’s supercar that calls back a name used in the not too distant past. Mid mounted is a 621 hp twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six cylinder engine. It’s paired to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. 

If the MINI Cooper 2-Door is a bit too impractical, maybe the 4-Door is the answer. By slightly stretching the iconic MINI Cooper, a set of rear doors are added making access to the back seats easier. Otherwise, everything we love about the 2-Door Cooper is included with the 4 Door. But there is one caveat; the JCW is not offered on this model. 

MINI went electric a few years ago with the Cooper 2-Door SE. The all electric MINI offers minimal range and is intended as more of a commuter than a longer distance driver. But the Cooper SE does feature on thing most EVs do not – that fun to drive factor.

The GLA is Mercedes-Benz’ smallest SUV. The subcompact utility vehicle is the entry point to the brand, so it’s very important for the manufacturer. With decent levels of interior space, the GLA can be had with front- or all-wheel drive. 

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is an icon for the brand. Also referred to as the G-Wagen, this is a hardcore SUV wrapped in an elegant package. Locking differentials, adjustable suspension, and a low-speed transfer case are a few of the vehicle’s trail ready tidbits. 

The Mercedes-Benz EQE sedan is the second member of the EQ all-electric sedan family. Smaller than the EQS, the EQE is a more affordable mid-size all-electric option from Mercedes. But just because it is smaller doesn’t mean the EQE lacks the technology wizardry found in the larger EQ family members. 

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class continues to be one of the most versatile models in the brand’s lineup. It can come as a traditional sedan, a lifted wagon, a coupe, or a convertible. Here, we are focusing on the latter two. The coupe and convertible include just a single drivetrain, a 3.0-liter turbo 6-cylinder coupled to a mild hybrid. Two levels of power are available, and power can be sent to the rear or all four wheels. 

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain Wagon may have a long name, but it’s a rather simple formula. Take a luxury station wagon, lift up the suspension a bit, add some cladding, and voila – it’s a crossover. The current All-Terrain comes with just one engine choice, a powerful turbocharged six-cylinder that features a mild hybrid system. 

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been around for a long time. It’s stood the test of time as a stalwart within the mid-size luxury sedan world. Currently the luxurious four-door comes in a few different flavors with either rear- or all-wheel drive. Regardless of which E-Class is chosen, one can be rest assured they purchased a refine, smooth, premium sedan. 

The CLA Coupe is Mercedes-Benz swoopy four-door subcompact. Yes, despite what the name implies, the CLA is in fact a sedan. But it does feature an aggressively racked rear roofline that gives it a coupe-like profile. 

The compact C-Class from Mercedes-Benz can come as both as coupe and a convertible. Unlike it’s sedan counterpart, the two-door models of the C-Class still ride on the previous generations architecture. Power for both vehicles comes from a choice of turbocharged engines, a 4-cylinder and a 6-cylinder.

The subcompact Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan is the entry point to the luxury manufacturer. With the lowest price point, only one version of the car is available, the A 220. It can be had with front-or all-wheel drive and comes exclusively with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
