MINI Developing Another Crossover Set to Arrive in 2021
BMW’s MINI brand is developing a second crossover that will arrive around 2021, a new report indicates.
The yet-to-be-named crossover will be roughly the same size as the MINI Countryman and will ride on an all-new platform that will eventually serve in the entire MINI model range. The new platform will be developed from the ground-up to accommodate electric powertrains, making it easier for the automaker to introduce EV variants of its future vehicles.
MINI recently hinted that its lineup could one day go all-electric in the United States. The revamped MINI EV lineup would be tailored toward urban consumers mainly — similar to Daimler’s new strategy for its Smart city car brand, which recently discontinued the sale of gas-powered models in the U.S. and Canada.

This new MINI crossover is still quite a while out, but when it arrives, look for it to adopt some styling cues from the recently unveiled MINI Electric concept. We’re expecting both gasoline and electric versions to arrive, and perhaps even a plug-in hybrid as well.
