McLaren Speedtail is Nearly 17 Feet Long and Can Do 250 MPH

We won’t waste your time. Let’s get right into the stats. The Speedtail makes 1,036 hp from its gas-hybrid powertrain, enough to propel the car from 0-186mph in 12.8 seconds (nearly four seconds faster than the McLaren P1) and top out at 250 mph. It’s based on McLaren’s carbon fiber Monocage chassis and features active suspension, full carbon fiber bodywork and carbon fiber aero wheel covers. It also has something called Velocity Active Chassis Control, which can lower the car by 1.4 inches on demand – a lot like the Ford GT’s hydraulic suspension system. McLaren says the Speedtail tips the scales at just 3,153 lbs dry and measures an incredible 5,137 mm from nose to tail – just under 17 feet.

Inside, the Speedtail mimics the McLaren F1’s three-seat layout, featuring a central driver’s seat flanked by two passenger seats. Thick, high-quality Scandinavian leather trims the seats, dash, doors and other parts of the cabin,
while owners will also be able to select from unique stitch patterns and contrasting stitching along with other options to ensure that their car is entirely personalized. A full digital dashboard is joined by two separate screens near either of the a-pillars, which together with two rear-facing cameras, replace traditional side mirrors. The gear select, traction and other vehicle controls are mounted on the roof above the driver.

The McLaren Speedtail will cost £1.75million plus taxes, or $2.2 million USD. Just 106 will be made and all examples have already been spoken for. The first deliveries won’t commence until 2020, so it will be quite a while before we see the Speedtail out on public roads.
