McLaren Senna GTR Has 815 HP and 2,200 Lbs of Downforce
The McLaren Senna is one of the brand’s fastest ever series production models, but the new Senna GTR makes it seemed restrained by comparison.
McLaren debuted the road-going version of the Senna last year, all 500 examples of which have already been claimed by some of the automaker’s most loyal and passionate customers. The Senna GTR will be the track only, and just 75 of them will be built. The GTR builds on the road car, boosting output of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 from 800 hp to “at least” 813 hp, McLaren says. Torque also climbs from 590 lb-ft, but an exact figure wasn’t provided.

Also providing an increase in performance is a sequential racing gearbox for faster upshifts and downshifts, a revised double wishbone suspension and slick Pirelli tires. The regular Senna already has some extreme aero, but the GTR takes things to another level with a deeper front splitter and massive rear diffuser. It also gets lightweight race-style wheels developed specifically for use on circuits.
With over 800 hp and 2,200 lbs of downforce, McLaren says the Senna GTR is the fastest vehicle on a lap time basis it has ever made – apart from a Formula 1 car. That means it’s faster around a racetrack than the 650S GT3 race car, P1 GTR and even the F1 GTR Long Tail. So yeah, it’s fast.
McLaren says the Senna GTR it’s presenting at Geneva this week is not a finished product but is representative of the direction the production vehicle will go in. Like we said, just 75 of them will be built – so you’d better act quickly if you want your name on the list.
