Lotus Evora Sport 410 Adds Carbon Fiber, Cuts Weight
Lotus has spent some time cutting weight from the new Evora 400, resulting in the new Evora Sport 410.
Thanks to a host of new carbon fiber components, Lotus has managed to trim 154 lbs from the Evora 400’s weight, bringing the curb weight for this car down to 2,921 lbs. The Sport 410 also adopts the 410-hp supercharged V6 from the new track-focused 3-Eleven, allowing the Sport to jump from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. A six-speed manual gearbox comes standard while an automatic is available.

Lotus says that despite the added lightness, this isn’t a stripped-out special, and still has good road manners and a refined ride. To shed weight, a new rear carbon fiber tailgate was designed while the door-trim panels were also replaced with the lightweight material. The front splitter, roof panel, rear diffuser and race seats are all also made from carbon fiber, which combine for a 15-percent increase in downforce with no increase in drag.
Around the brand’s Hethel test track, the Sport 410 is about 3 seconds faster than the Evora 400, also helped by a 5mm reduction in ride height and a revised suspension setup.
The brand will limit Sport 410 production to 150 units per year, with delivery starting in June of 2016. Later in 2016, Lotus says it will announce a special version of the new Evora that will be coming to North America.
Pricing for the U.S. is unknown, but in the UK, the car costs £79,900, while in Germany it will sell for €106,900. It was also be for sale in France, Italy and Japan for comparable prices.
