Lotus Continues 50-Year Celebration With Exige 350 Special Edition

The Lotus Exige 350 Special Edition is the final anniversary edition celebrating the British automaker’s 50 years at Hethel.

Based on the Lotus Exige Sport 350, the new special edition model adds lightweight, performance-enhancing features in addition to unique paint and interior options as standard. Powering the sports car is a 3.5-liter supercharged V6 engine with 345 horsepower and is capable of going zero-to-60 mph in 3.7 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds). It also weighs 57 pounds (26 kg) less than the standard Exige Sport 350 and boasts a top speed of 170 mph (274 km/h). According to Lotus, the Exige 350 Special Edition lapped the Hethel track in 1:29.8.

Helping shed the weight is a revised front access panel cover that was first seen on the Exige Cup 350, lightweight carbon fiber sports seats, lightweight forged alloy wheels and a lithium-ion battery as standard.

The special edition model will is limited to 50 units and is available in the U.K., Germany and Japan.

“The Lotus Exige is the quickest point-to-point sports car on the road; nothing can match its levels of accessible performance and grip,” said Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales. “It’s lightweight, responsive and exceedingly fast, with the purity expected of a Lotus. It is a real beast that needs taming but it won’t bite back.”
