Lincoln is Finally Bringing Back the Aviator Nameplate
The Lincoln Aviator Concept will make its debut at the 2018 New York Auto Show.
The American automaker has released a short teaser video for the new Aviator Concept, previewing what will likely be a replacement for the MKT three-row SUV. The Aviator nameplate hasn’t been used since 2005, but Lincoln is adopting a new nomenclature that uses more traditional model names like the existing Continental and Nautilus.
Reports of the Aviator’s revival first surfaced in 2015 from our sister site, The Truth About Cars. It is believed the new Aviator will be based on the existing Ford Explorer.

Like other automakers, Lincoln is focused on bolstering its lineup of crossover and SUV offerings as the segment continues to stronger and stronger. Expect to see more teasers and details leading up to the Aviator Concept’s debut at the 2018 New York Auto Show, where AutoGuide.com will be reporting live.
