Lexus TZ EV SUV Could Be Coming With Close to 400 HP
It appears we know the name of the next Lexus all-electric SUV.
In a trademark filling made by Toyota of Europe, the names Lexus TZ450e and Lexus TZ550e have been registered. Going by the brand’s current naming convention, that would indicate the new model’s name will be called TZ.
The manufacturer's current all-electric model, the Lexus RZ, uses an R at the start of its name like the similar-in-size gasoline powered two-row RX SUV. This would lead us to believe the TZ will be a larger three-row SUV like the recently introduced Lexus TX.
Digging deeper into the manufacturer’s naming convention, the RZ450e is offered with a 308 hp dual motor set-up, so expect the TZ450e to be roughly the same. What’s more intriguing is the TZ550e as it indicates a more powerful version of the upcoming SUV.
Although gasoline powered, the Lexus RX500h makes 366 hp while the LX600 makes 409 hp. That would have us guess the TZ550e should slot somewhere in-between there. Most likely using a dual motor set-up, power could be around the 385 hp mark.
Nothing else is known about the upcoming Lexus EV SUV, like what motors and/or batteries would power it. Furthermore, it could be months if not years until we know more. Once we hear anything, we'll let you know.
