Large Alfa Romeo SUV Rumored to Debut in June
According to a new report, Alfa Romeo is debuting a new large SUV in June, along with a range of performance-focused mild hybrid models.
The SUV will allegedly tap the Giorgio rear-wheel-drive platform that currently serves in the Stelvio crossover and Giulia sedan. It will likely receive power from a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and will also feature an electric turbocharger and a 48V mild hybrid system. A three-row model with seating for up to seven passengers may also be on the cards.
Set to debut alongside the hybrid SUV is a two-door Giulia Coupe. This actually isn’t the first we’ve heard of a two-door Giulia, as rumors of such a model first surfaced late last year before appearing once again early last month. It will also be offered in mild hybrid form, with a 48V system set to join the 505 hp 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 for a total output of 641 hp. The 48V system will also come on a 2.0-liter model, where maximum output should sit at around 345 hp.
FCA debuted its 48V starter-generator in the 2019 Ram 1500. Connected to the engine’s crankshaft, the 48V system helps to provide a boost in both fuel economy and performance.

The debut of the large SUV and Giulia coupe is scheduled to take place at Fiat Chrysler’s Balocco test track in Italy. Lending some credence to this rumor is that June 2018 will mark 14 years since CEO Sergio Marchionne first took the helm at Fiat. The debut could be one of the last major product presentations to occur under Marchionne’s watch, with the Italian-Canadian executive set to retire in April of 2019.

Smart! Alfa will sell a lot of them! Watch out Cayenne.
I imagine these will sell almost as fast as the stelvio, if that. Not sure the American market is over the Fiat quality and the high cost of Alfa repairs from tony. Its only been 7 years since the takeover and only 2 models from Alfa and 3 from fiat and those are died before they got off the ground Also how is that 48 volt system working in the Ram? oh yeah still not even into production yet.
