Lamborghini Prepping Aventador SV J With Nearly 800 HP

If you’re not aware, the Jota name is held in rather high regard among Lamborghini enthusiasts. It was first applied to a Miura that was built to adhere to the FIA’s ‘Appendix J’ regulations, with ‘jota’ being the Spanish pronunciation of the letter ‘J’. Just one Miura Jota was built, but Lamborghini later revived the name for the limited run Diablo Jota. Now it looks as though the Jota badge will be applied to the Aventador SV as well.

A prototype for this ultra hardcore Aventador SV J was recently spotted testing on the Nurburgring. The car will get some seriously wild aerodynamics, perhaps of the active sort, along with lightweight centerlock wheels and ridiculously wide air intakes. Under the engine cover will be a more powerful version of Lamborghini’s naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine. The twelve-cylinder makes 730 hp in the Aventador S, 740 hp in the Aventador SV and 760 hp in the Aventador-based Centenario. It should be making at least 770 hp in the Aventador SV J then, and we won’t be shocked if it gets even more than that.

Zooming in on one of the photos reveals a rollcage has been fitted to the car, but this is common for Nurburgring test prototypes and likely isn’t representative of the production car. The same goes for the race-spec OMP bucket seat.

Like all track-focused variants of existing performance cars, we’re also expecting Lamborghini to pull some weight out of the Aventador in moving to the SV J and apply some extra sticky rubber. Interior modifications, such as lightweight seats, are probably on the table too.

The Lamborghini Aventador SV J is expected to debut sometime in 2018. It will likely be limited to a certain number of cars and should cost more than the Aventador SV’s starting price of $493,000.
