Hyundai's N Vision 74 Concept Reportedly Headed To Production

Hyundai might have a sporty EV coupe up its sleeve.

Hyundai has been on a roll lately. It seems like it can’t make an EV that isn’t good; the Ioniq 6, Ioniq 5, and Kona EV are all solid offerings, that dovetail with an impressive lineup of crossovers, sedans, and SUVs. Yet, since the death of the Veloster in 2021, the brand hasn’t had a sporty coupe (or coupe-like) vehicle in its lineup. That might change, though – a report from the Korean publication Money Today says that the much-loved Hyundai N Vision 74 is going into production.

The N Vision 74 concept is a retro-styled coupe concept. Like the original Hyundai Ionq 5’s concept, it too is inspired by early Hyundai models. The muscular coupe takes inspiration from Hyundai’s first car, the Pony. How fitting that Money Today says the car will be revealed on May 27, at Hyundai’s Seoul design studio during an event called “Pony Day,” said the source that leaked the information. During the event, the source said the brand will reveal the final production design of the vehicle.

Nothing has been confirmed, though, so for now this is merely a (very plausible) rumor. Hyundai has hinted that it planned to expand outward with more electrified models, but nothing about the N Vision 74 quite yet. If the N Vision 74 were to make it to production, we’d likely expect Hyundai to drop the hydrogen fuel cell tech, and just go for a hyperfast EV design. Or, maybe Hyundai backtrack on the alternative fuel thing and use one of its pretty great turbocharged 4 or 6-cylinder engines.

Whatever the case, the N Vision 74 concept is a mean-looking car, and we hope that it does hit our roads in some form.
