Genesis had been tight lipped about why they brought us to Malibu California.

But we knew we were going to see something special. When the wraps finally came off. we got to see the world premiere of the Genesis X Convertible.

This is the final instalment in Genesis’ X model trilogy of concept cars. The new Convertible joins the X Concept and X Speedium Coupe Concept. The latter was shown earlier this year at the New York Auto Show.

Not Much Known

No details are available about the EV drivetrain that powers the Genesis X Convertible. All we’ve been told is that it shares the same set-up as the X Speedium Coupe.

By being an EV, the general shape of the vehicle does not need to conform to conventual internal combustion engine car design. But the designers did give the Genesis X Convertible a throw-back coke-bottle shape and pleasing proportions. There is the Genesis signature twin bar lighting front and rear. The front lights even wrap all the way back past the front fenders.

Genesis X Convertible – Old School Futuristic

The new concept is a hardtop convertible that features transparent moon roofs to give passenger’s an airy feel. The interior features horizontal and vertical stitching throughout giving the car a somewhat retro-futuristic look, if that makes sense.

The four seater drop-top does not appear to be a running model, but there are fake screens up front to give the impression of what a production model could look like. As far as plans for this car, none have been told to us at this time, but we think an all-electric convertible halo car would do a lot of good for Genesis.

looks like a 1982 corvette and a 2004 chrysler cross fire had a baby. so nothing really new just modern retro. Like Mustan, like camaro, like challenger etc
