ford significantly slashes prices of f 150 lightning in us and canada

Ford’s F-150 Lightning prices are down, but still higher than what was initially announced in 2021.

The Ford F-150 Lighting is an impressive electric truck, but the model line’s rising pricing has put some off from buying. Ford has announced new reduced F-150 Lightning pricing for both the U.S. and Canada.

Ford cites increased plant capacity, continued work on scaling production and cost, and the improvement of battery raw material costs as the reason it can lower prices on the truck. The Michigan Rouge Electric Vehicle Center where the truck is made is temporarily closed for upgrades. When it does reopen, Ford says the output will be triple, capable of producing 150,000 F-150 Lightning models per year.

The most significant price for the F-150 Lighting is biased toward the bottom end of the lineup. The F-150 Pro got a $10,000 price cut, bringing its starting price to just under $50,000 before destination fees. All trims will get at least a $6,000 USD price cut.

In Canada, the base F-150 pro shaved $15,000 CDN from its price, bringing the new total to $59,000 CDN, before destination fees.

This is great news for Ford F-150 Lighting hopefuls. Ford has struggled with actually getting trucks into customer driveways. Also, there are rumblings that the F-150 Lightning’s elevated pricing has caused some to cancel their orders. The lower price and increased production capacity should alleviate those two issues.

The order books for the cheaper F-150 Lightning are now open.
