Ford Produced Its 150,000 Mustang Mach-E; Output Goal Increased To 270,000

The Mustang Mach-E has been a hit.

Ford CEO Jim Farley took to Twitter to celebrate a big milestone in Ford’s EV sales race. Ford has produced 150,000 examples of the EV crossover. Currently, the Mach-E is made in both China and Mexico, but the brand has plans to expand the Mach-E’s sales to 37 countries by next year. Interestingly, Ford claimed that 8 out of 10 customers in the U.S., and 9 out of 10 customers in Europe used the Mach-E to replace a gas-powered vehicle.

The Mach-E has been a hit in North America, as reservations for some trims of the EV crossover have been closed for weeks. The Ford Mustang Mach-E is such a strong hit, that the brand has rocketed to the number two EV manufacturer in the US, behind Tesla. Ford has managed to shift more than 30,000 units by October 2022. Sales have continued to rise as the brand figures out how to surmount supply chain issues and get the cars into customer driveways.

Ford wants to sell 2 million EVs by 2026. The success of the Mach-E is only the start, the brand has the also very successful F-150 Lightning EV pickup, and is readying a flurry of EVs for multiple segments and different markets. In the interim, Ford plans to ramp up Mach-E production to 270,000 per year. “ we’re literally maxing out the space to make more Mustang Mach-E vehicles,” said Deborah Manzano, Ford’s director of manufacturing, via a Ford press release.
