Ford Issues Two Recalls for Fuel Pumps, Brake Hose Protection
A handful of Ford vehicles are subject to two new recalls surrounding fuel pumps and brake hose corrosion protection.
The automaker announced on Wednesday that the 2018 Ford F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator are all affected by the fuel pump qualm. Select 2018 Ford F-650 and F-750 models are subject to the brake hose corrosion recall.
Specifically, the fuel pump issue stems from trucks and SUVs that feature the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. The engine’s high-pressure fuel pumps may feature misaligned welds between the pump housing and its mounting flange. What does that mean for drivers? Eventually, the fuel pump could shift and the seal could break and result in fuel leaks, which increases the risk of a fire.
In total, 7,580 F-150, Expedition, and Navigator models are affected in North America. Ford dealers will perform the essential repairs free-of-charge, which will include replacing the high-pressure fuel pump, high-pressure fuel discharge tube, and high-pressure pump and discharge tube mounting bolts.

The second recall deals with missing brake hose corrosion protection plating. On some F-650 and F-750 models with a hydraulic brake system, the missing protection plating could lead to premature corrosion of the brake hose ferrules. Ultimately, brake fluid could leak and impair braking functions, which increases the risk of a crash. The recall includes 1,485 vehicles in North America.
Finally, although not a new recall, Ford has added 27 2018 Ford Edge, 2018 Ford Fusion and 2017 Lincoln MKZ vehicles to an existing recall campaign. The recall deals with the vehicles’ 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and inadequately welded studs for the torque converter.
Ford added that it’s not aware of any incidents surrounding any of the affected vehicles.
