The Buick Encore GX is now the brand’s entry level SUV with the demise of the smaller Encore. Wearing new looks inside and out, the Encore GX continues to use the same mechanics as before.
The small turbocharged three-cylinder engines provide good power around town, but begins to run out of steam at highway speeds. The vehicle feels premium inside and the ride quality is better than expected for a small SUV.

2024 Buick Encore GX ST Review: First Drive
Buick’s small SUV nomenclature has been a bit confusing of late. But this year it all becomes clearer.
No longer will there be a Buick Encore and a Buick Encore GX. The former has been put to pasture. It’s replaced by a much different, better positioned model in the Envista. The bigger GX will now be the only bearer of the Encore name, and for the 2024 model year, it has been heavily revised.

2024 Buick Encore GX Debuts New Brand Design Language, Adds Avenir Trim
New model will arrive in dealerships this spring; uses carryover drivetrains.
Buick celebrated the return of the Canadian International Auto Show early Thursday morning with the global debut of the 2024 Buick Encore GX. Featuring a whole new brand design language, improved cabin tech, and the addition of an Avenir trim.
Since the big news here is that styling direction, we’ll focus on the looks first. AutoGuide had the opportunity to check out the ’24 at GM’s design dome in Detroit a few weeks ago. We saw two models there, including the brilliant blue Avenir you see here as well as a red ST.
