Bentley Bentayga Plug-In Hybrid Offers 31 Miles of EV Range
The Bentley Bentayga Plug-In Hybrid has arrived to shake-up the luxury hybrid car market and offer Bentley buyers a more earth-friendly vehicle option.
The Bentayga Plug-In Hybrid receives its power from a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine and a single electric motor. Bentley hasn’t dropped any performance figures yet, but we’re expecting it to have a similar output to the 416 hp Porsche Cayenne S e-Hybrid. The British automaker claims its first plug-in can travel 31 miles on electric power alone and says charging the battery from flat to full using a standard domestic socket will take 7.5 hours. An industrial connection can charge the pack to full in just 2.5 hours, however.
There’s also exclusive equipment offered on the hybrid Bentayga. It will feature three ‘E Modes’ – EV Drive, Hybrid Mode and Hold Mode, with EV energy flow displayed on the infotainment screen. The traditional tachometer has been replaced with a dial indicating the status of the electric drive system, while a battery status dial replaces the coolant temperature gauge. An ‘E-Charging’ app in the infotainment system will also list nearby charging stations and allow the user to easily set them as a destination.
This being a Bentley, it also gets a long list of high-end content. This includes Electronic Night Vision, a Head-Up Display, a standard eight-inch infotainment screen, a rear-seat entertainment tablet with 4G LTE and a Naim audio system, which has 18 speakers and offers up an ear-destroying 1,950 watts of power. Bentley is also rather proud of the stylish Phillipe Starck-designed charging dock it’s developed for the electrified SUV.

“Following Bentley tradition, the Bentayga Hybrid pioneers a new automotive sector – the luxury hybrid – and sets Bentley on the path towards a sustainable electrified future,” said Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark.
The Bentayga Plug-In Hybrid joins the Bentayga V8 and Bentayga W12 in the automaker’s SUV lineup. In Europe, a Bentayga diesel is also offered with VW Group’s 3.0-liter diesel V6 under the hood.
