Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Stretches Its V12 Legs on Track
The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is coming to serve as the automaker new track-focused grand tourer, and a test prototype was recently filmed putting in laps at the Nurburgring.
The DBS Superleggera name was confirmed for Aston Martin’s new performance special earlier this month. The front-engine two door is based on the DB11, but will appear quite a bit different thanks to a gaping grille, different headlights and a new rear fascia. Test prototypes appear to have early versions of aerodynamic pieces such as the small, upright rear wing, large hood vents and a rear diffuser, so it’s clear the Superleggera will leverage downforce to trim lap times.

Expected to be under the hood of the DBS Superleggera is a more powerful version of the 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine found in the DB11. With a competitor like the 789 hp Ferrari 812 Superfast in this segment, and even cars like the 755 hp Corvette ZR1 to consider, we wouldn’t be shocked if Aston Martin boosted this engine to 700 hp or more in the DBS Superleggera. Expect chassis and suspension tuning to match the powerful engine as well.
The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is expected to make its official debut in June, so stay tuned for official details. For now, be sure to watch it squeal its tires around the ‘Ring in the video embedded above.
