2024 Nissan Rogue Freshens Up, Brings Google Built-In Onboard

Nissan improves its best-seller with tweaked looks and more tech across the board.

Nissan on Monday morning showed off the 2024 Rogue for the first time. The refreshed SUV might not look vastly different from before, but it comes with choice improvements across the trim grades to keep up in the hyper-competitive compact SUV segment.

Eagle-eyed spotters will be able to tell the '24 apart from its redesigned V-motion grille, which tones down the chrome. There's a similar story down low in the bumper, with bits of brushed metal trim and liberal splashing of glossy black—at least on the Platinum trim seen above. Around back, the interior taillight elements are new, as is the bumper design. A handful of different wheel designs (both 18- and 19-inches) plus three new exterior color choices round out the changes.

Inside, Nissan has hopped on the Google Built-In bandwagon. The Rogue SL and Platinum trims drop in a big 12.3-inch touchscreen running the big G's setup, allowing owners to access apps like Google Maps without having to plug in their phones. Want other apps? If they're on the the Google Play online store, they're probably available for your car. Apple CarPlay is supported, as is of course Android Auto. These two trims also gain Amazon Alexa and Sirius XM with 360L, too. The Rogue S and SV continue to use an 8.0-inch touchscreen.

Along with this infotainment upgrade, Nissan is bumping the current NissanConnect Services to a 3-year trial, up from six months. NissanConnect now allows Rogue drivers to set climate controls, seat heaters, and steering heater separately when using the remote start. There's still a strong lineup of driver assists across all trims, including rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot warning, all under the Nissan Safety Shield 360 banner. The SV trim gains ProPilot Assist, while the SL and Platinum boast an upgraded version that calculates road speeds based the navigation.

Finally, the cabin sees a new chestnut brown leather option, and the Rogue has made the full transition to USB-C.

Another aspect of the 2024 Rogue that hasn't changed is the powertrain—and that's a good thing. The little 1.5 turbocharged three-cylinder is still plenty strong with 201 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque. It's also economical: the Rogue only trailed the hybrids in our mega-sized compact SUV comparo last year. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional.
