The middle-child of the Range Rover sub-brand sees smart updates for 2024, focusing on user experience.

Land Rover on Wednesday debuted the 2024 Range Rover Velar on that most 2023 platform: TikTok. The mid-sized model comes in for a light refresh, with tweaked styling inside and out, and an overhauled infotainment setup.

The exterior changes are subtle. A new grille insert uses a different pattern than before, and the small squares in the headlight daytime running lights (DRLs) are now thick lines. Similar changes are apparent out back, with a simpler LED signature and a tweaked rear bumper that now better integrates the fake exhaust outlets.

Interior changes are more dramatic. Gone is the twin-screen setup that dominated the center of the cabin: in its place is one 11.4-inch curved touchscreen running Pivi Pro. That means no more physical controls for climate, though Land Rover is quick to point out they are always visible on-screen. Wireless smart phone mirroring is now standard too, along with Amazon Alexa and what3words. Finally, most of the Velar’s ECUs are capable of over-the-air (OTA) updates.

Land Rover has introduced a range of alternative textiles to the usual leather here. One such option pairs wool with Ultrafabrics polyurethane. The British company touts the hardiness of the Ultrafabrics textile, stating it went through the equivalent of 10 years of stress testing. There are three new color schemes for the leather if folks prefer something more traditional, too.

Other interior tech goodies include an air purification system, 30-color ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, and active noise cancellation. An available 17-speaker Meridian sound system provides up to 750 watts of audio power.

Speaking of power, the Velar will continue to offer two engines, both hooked up to standard AWD and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter turbo-four produces 247 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Stepping up to the P400 adds two cylinders and a mild hybrid system, for 395 hp and 405 lb-ft. The latter engine comes with an adaptive suspension, while all Velars still come with Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2.0 driver mode system.

American pricing will begin at $61,500 before destination for the 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Velar P250 S. The Dynamic SE trim requires an additional $2,100; opting for the six-cylinder bumps the price of admission to $70,600. The top trim is the P400 Dynamic SE at $78,400 before options.
